Santa's not my ho-ho-homeboy!

Good afternoon, friends!

I finished my last exam on Friday and I still can't believe another semester has come and gone. I have two semesters left, followed by a 15 week internship, and then I am finished school. It's so bizarre to think about..time has moved so quickly.

I was talking with a friend of mine, yesterday, one that I used to go horseback riding with. We were discussing how it felt like it had been so long since we had gone riding, so long that it felt like it was almost another life. A lot has happened in the past few years; a great deal has changed. I find myself evolving, too. Change is no longer something I fear, rather embrace. I'm an idealist, and when other people have their feet on the ground, my head is often in the clouds.

I'm a great listener and I try to help out whenever I can, so, because these are universal, let me share some words of wisdom with you. There are three things I strongly believe:

1. Trust is earned, not deserved.
2. You should never compromise your happiness for someone else.
3. Blood is thicker than water.

These are things I have always lived by. I shall elaborate.

1. Trust is earned, not deserved.

I have trusted someone fully in the past, only to be hurt, humiliated, and left in the dark. It is possible to befriend someone without showing all of your cards at once. We are most likely to develop better friendships and relationships with people that are worthy if we give them the opportunity to show us WHY we should trust them, instead of trusting them because we are expected to.

2. You should never compromise your happiness for someone else.

You can always rely on yourself, you will be the one behind your successes, you will be the one to push yourself to your limits, and you will never let yourself down. You have the choice to live for yourself, or live for people that may lead you astray, or who may one day leave you. In the end, you will always have yourself. Doing things that benefit ourselves does not make us selfish, it makes us smart and timeless. Don't get me wrong, volunteering your time, donating money, etc. are all amazing things and I support them all 100%, however you should do these things for self fulfillment, not for recognition, etc.

3. Blood is thicker than water.

Your family will always accept you and be supportive of you, no matter what decisions you make. They may be disappointed, but they will never NOT love you for something you have done. Friends, relationships, they come and they go. Friends can judge friends, people can fall out of love, but family is always at your side, helping aid you in your battles, and give you a pat on the back when you succeed.

That's just my little tidbit...take it as you will. I hope you all have an outstanding holiday season. I'll talk to you soon. In the mean time, enjoy this:
